Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
I've tried the Schaller and TonePros. I ended up putting Grover 135 tuners on my ES-335's. They stay in tune better.
If you are putting tuners on like these, that have the nut, you do not need to drill a hole for the second screw. Just one screw and the nut will hold things in place fine.
I found the volume difference between the Jazz Neck and JB too great for my preference. However, using a Jazz Bridge in the neck spot with a JB balanced much nicer and sounded good.
I've had hum issues with a One Spot and a T-Rex Fuel Tank. No issues with two different Voodoo Labs Pedal Powers. Probably not the answer a person wants to hear, but those are my experiences.
I like my figured blonde. Some cherry reds with figuring that I've seen don't really pop like other colors. For red, I personally would go non-figured, but woodgrain similar to JB's photos.
I'm a rubber washer guy and never had an issue. Whatever you end up using, check them regularly. I know of a few people who have had Schaller or Dunlops wear out after years of use causing failure, or a nut came loose allowing the guitar to fall.
Playing the video on my computer, the FU and Faber sounded very similar. Callaham and stock Gibson sounded very similar. I've been using Faber and am happy with them.
I also replaced the stock tuners on my 2018 and 2019 R7 and R8 respectively with Gotohs. I like the ageing of the Gotohs too, not overdone. Much nicer tuners.
2 x 2017 Memphis. Both weigh 7 lbs, 13 oz. Both have Gibson Historic lightweight tailpieces. Both have Grover 135 tuners, not Rotomatics.
I had a 1996 Fat Neck that weighed 8 lbs, 9 oz. with Gibson Lightweight tailpiece and Grover 135 tuners.
Nice guitar. I wanted one of those back when they first came out but seems like they have more of a slim-taper neck, which doesn't agree with me. Congratulations and I hope you enjoy it for many, many years.
