Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
I play nothing but electric. I don't think I've touched an acoustic guitar in 5 years or more.
My nephew bought a used Ovation and asked me to clean it up for him. So he left it with me for a few days.
After the cleaning and set-up, fresh strings etc...I played it for a while. I must say I...
I have decided to put a cover on my neck pickup. The pup is already potted, but I was told to
put a strip on masking tape over the slugs to prevent squeeling.
What about electrical tape? Would that not be a better idea?
Thoughts guys? :salude
I've always been into fighter jets. One of my all time favourites was the CF 104 Starfighter. I just saw an great documentary and
either you loved this plane or you hated it! lol
Canada used this jet till we went with the CF 18 in the 1980's, now we are looking at the F 35 as a replacement...
Does this sound correct to you guys?
I measured both pups resistance. Bridge pup almost 13.6k/ Neck pup is 8.6k
But...
In the center position with both pups on, I get less than 6k?
The method I use was one I found online. You use the guitar lead plugged into the guitar, and you measure
the...
Guys...
I got a call from Long & McQuade (Canada's Guitar Center) telling me that the DiMarzio 36th Anniversary pup I have been waiting
for has become available sooner. It was on hold for a customer, but now has become available.
Great! I wasn't expecting it for another two weeks!
When I get...
I just received my push/pulls 500k. DiMarzio audio made by CTS
The first thing I did was check them on a multi-meter.
One was 480k, so it's within the tolerance levels.
The OTHER however was clocking in at 420k!
In my opinion, this should never have been sold. It's well below the specs. I will...
Question for the wiring masters here on the mile. :peace2
Is it possible using a 4 wire humbucker to have one push/pull for phase reversal, and another push/pull
for series/parallel, BUT on the same pickup. To clarify..the neck pup is used exclusivly for both mods. The bridge
pup is wired...
Does anyone know who makes the pots for DiMarzio? I assume they don't make their own.
I need a push/pull and am hoping the shaft size jives with my short shaft CTS pots.
It would look stupid with one knob sticking out above the others.
I was wondering, if you split the coils via a switch to make your humbuckers sound single coil (ish)
You're still going through a 500K pot, you miss the subtle nuances of the 250K pots, that make single coils sound as they do...
Is this an accurate statement? :hmm
Guys, this is the last post for push/pull I promise! lol
My question is...
Do you install them on the volume or tone side? I want one for phase and one for series/parallel.
This may be a no brainer to some, but this is my 1st attempt at such a thing and I want to get it right.
As a side...
I'm going to get a pair of push/pulls for my R9. I was looking at the Dimarzio pots and I only see one shaft length size.
Is this normal that there's only one length when it comes to push/pulls?
Thanks guys.
Here's photographic proof that F spaced DiMarzios are the best bet for a Les Paul in the bridge position.
Mind you, this is an R9. I have no idea about other Les Paul models.
Guys...
I asked DiMarzio to send me a schematic to have one push/pull for the out of phase option. This is what they sent me.
My Les Paul is wired 1950's.
It still confuses me. It says at the bottom to solder the black and white wires together and tape. Yet, it shows the
black and white wires...
Was thinking about getting a set of speed knobs. Can I still us the pointers that came on the Les Paul?
I'm hoping the circumference of the speed knobs won't be too large.
