Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
I think the 60th LPS has enough going for it to separate from previous iterations. I don't expect them to hugely appreciate but I think they will more than keep up with inflation. YMMV and etc.
I think the 20192 are different enough from previous efforts that they will be special. The pickups are different, the top carve is a bit more accurate, the neck is different and perhaps the Gibson logo is different.
What is different in a wrong way for me is the "Ls Paul model" silkscreen...
Going on two years later, I see fewer 60th Lesters -- new or used -- on Reverb. Some of them are in colors that didn't catch on and some are overseas. Prices have climbed steadily. No doubt, there is something about the '19s. I have two and have no desire to sell even though I'm 76 years...
I bought one and found another at the same time. My reward for68 years of working for a living. The look, sound and play unreal. I remember when '59s were new. These guitars sound like that.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY MY UPLOAED PHOTOS ARE SO SMALL? HELP!
Gibson has so many different top colors these days. But do they fade? In other words, are the dyes as reactive to light as the old stuff? That would be cool. We'd all be playing lemon bursts in 30 years... smiles
Believe me, I don't mean to. But this is a slip top, something Gibson did in '59. I've seen such guitars. Gibson has a nice piece of flamed wood but it is too narrow to make a book match. So they cut the board in half and put the pieces side by side. You can identify these tops by looking...
I've seen pictures in various '59 Lester books of guitars with mismatched tops. I don't think I have personally seen a reissue with that . Has anyone here? Might be common as toads but this is all new to me. And I like it. Hang on a sec, I can't make the photo larger. Anyone know how I can...
Good old UPS "changed" the ZIP code and my guitar went to Fort Bragg CA 350 away from me. The guitar finally arrived last night around 8:30. The carton had been abused and the switch tip died in route. I have a vintage '50s tip so I put that on the guitar. FWIW, it is everything they said it...
I still have a 1974 Standard I bought in '76 and I've owned any number of R9s when I lived in Tokyo. Those are all gone. So at 75, I found this one and purchased it. 2019 60th. What do you think...
