• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

but it pours. i just joined the historic club after 15 years of waiting and now i have been given a shot at a second one.

but i am curious the seller claims its a chicago music exchange custom order, its a R8 with a crazy quilt like top, and a 60 v2 neck

does anyone have any experience with these???

CME definitely did a bunch of special runs like that over the last couple of years, including R8s with 60s necks. I own two CME R0s and they are fantastic.

Similarly, I purchased a 2019 Wildwood spec..R8, with 60s slim neck...SPECTACULAR in every way.

CME is a great shop in the Windy City , who carries the Gibson Custom line and has a CME version of the R9,R8,R0 with tops that they choose which are nice and different neck profiles . For instance they could have the R8 with the slim taper 60's profile neck . Also there CME spec Les Paul's have custom wound S spec Custombuckers , which are I believe similiar to Wildwood spec Custombuckers which are underwound . When I was in Chicago in 2019 I did try out several of the CME Les Paul's and I was very surprised at the pleasant sound of the underwound pickups played through a high end boutique high gain amp and they had a really nice tone .

I think it is easy to get little jaded between the nay-sayers and the few that pop up with really bad CS experiences- over big box shops. CME is not that. My CME guitar is wonderful is every respect- they pick the wood, specify the pick ups and do source inspection (acceptance). The owner is really involved with conceptual stuff and talks to his suppliers.
I think you can be confident when you purchase a CME CS instrument.
