• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

As most of you know, my Dad retired from Gibson after 29 years of service. Gibson has a policy of granting employees a guitar after 25 years.
This is the guitar my Dad received in 2001 for his 25 year anniversary. LP Custom in Tangerine Burst. The neck pickup is factory engraved with his name, and the bridge pickup is engraved with the dates of service 1975~2001. He rarely played this guitar, and aside from some slight plating wear on the bridge and edge of the treble pickup, the guitar is perfect. This guitar will forever be a treasured family heirloom.

Oh my goodness I am completely blown away at the most awesome beauty of a Les Paul Custom with a most beautiful figured sunburst top with no holes drilled for a guard ( a preference for me on a finely figured maple top ) This Les Paul is most drool worthy for me as she is stunning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. To heck with the gold watch , this is what I want when it's time for me to retire !

Just stunning and so beautiful as the birdseye figure is stunning . I love learning from you from all of your wisdom and knowledge of Gibson . I know this sounds like a cliche but thank you kindly for sharing so graciously on our Forum !

Choosing that ES-135 as his retirement piece reflects his pride in what he did. Not in what came before (which we gather here to venerate, and rightly so), but in what he did, there and then.

Lot to learn from Strings Sr.

Thanks for sharing both the pics and the story behind them. The guitars are beautiful and their meaning is touching too.

Wow. Those are two mighty perty guitars. Sounds like it's time to come out retirement, re-retire and get an SG this time. ;)
