• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Finally! My First R9!

Holy fuck, that’s the epitome of R9 gorgeousness right there. Enjoy her in good health!

...looks like she’s your avatar now? A worthy axe of such an honor.

Beautiful Les Paul! Most of us start out with our first Historic, love it, then we’re on a quest to find another one that takes it to the next level. You’re starting out right at the top.

I've been looking for the 'right' one for a long time. I found one 3-4 years ago that was very acoustic like and sounded amazing plugged in. I would have pulled the trigger on that one if it didn't have such a terrible top on it. I was actually shocked at how crappy that top was and that it come from the custom shop. Ever since I've been looking for the right one again, after playing at least 50 this is the one. I probably won't buy another R9 until the 70th Anniversary guitars come out.

Beautiful.
Same finish as mine... it is, honest. I posted photos last June and the colours were nothing like. How did you get it to photograph properly?
Enjoy.

I wasn't using flash. The flame just pops at all angles no matter which direction you're looking at it from. I placed it onto a stand and walked away and when I come back and looked at it head on it was just glowing with vibrancy. I did see pictures of yours that you'd posted. Yours looks almost borderline quilted maple. Very Beautiful guitar. I just absolutely love just about every "Factory Burst" i've seen. It's almost as they choose the best tops for that specific color.

You done good. That is amazing! I love color, ant that has lots of vibrant color. The flame is also killer. Nice pohtog too.

I know how hard it was to find "the one", as I had the same experience. Back in early 2019 I made a trip up to HOG and found mine. I tried many, and although Gibson is making (I think) their best Lesters since the golden era, each has a little something different in resonance and voice. Lucky for me the one that looked the nicest also sounded out of this world. Growl, clear note definition, touch sensitivity, sustain for days and harmonics that create their own feedback. Crazy! I just put mine back to bed after a morning of pure tone heaven. There is nothing like the joy of that tone...and having it look so gorgeous at the same time.

Congrats!

Stunning. Different parts of the top remind me of several guitars in ' The Beauty Of The Burst'..
A guitar like this will age alongside you throughout your career as a musician . Here's to a long and successful partnership.

Congrats! That is a beautiful guitar! And you went about it the right way. You took your time and played many guitars until you found The One. Enjoy it!

It is maximum perfect. But your month-long search has me curious about the R9s you passed by.
