• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Anyone using Sigil humbuckers?

There are some really impressive sounding posts on YouTube. Are you using them ?

Yes. I have several Sigil sets, and all are fantastic. My fav happens to be the Holy Grail ‘59 LTD with NOS wire...see my video demo of them below.

But the Snakebite, Holy Grail ‘58, Chicago ‘68, etc are all fantastic.

You must have one of the greatest collections of PAF style pups on the forum. Many thanks for sharing them with us.

I almost pulled a trigger on a set of Sigil's but went with the Wolfetone Legend set instead.

Could you share the details ? The more details the better BTW, cheers.

They are decent pickups. Very SG like in the guitar I have them in, which is trebly a the best of times. I think my Rolph 58s are the best pickups I've played so it is hard for me to compare them to these. They do a stellar job on ABB slide stuff though.

The Legends are no slouches! I find Dave’s winds to be a little “snappier” than Wolfe’s, but it’s all down to preference!

Sure. That's down to what you have in the harness as well though. No lack of snap and treble content with 545 kOhm VIPots!

Nothing to do with the pickups....but I wonder how many of us would know what "sigil" meant if it wasn't for Game Of Thrones, lol. Here in the US, I'd never heard the term before...

I'm interested in Sigil pickups - love my Wizz Premium Clones but they sound a little too soft in the guitar that they're in. To be honest, the guitar inherently has a 2k-4k frequency so finding the right pickup is tricky.

Tried contacting him earlier this week via his website but have yet to hear back…. As I’m in Canada too I’d be pleased to buy Canadian!

Does anyone have the 59 Holy Grail set? Would love to hear what I can expect out of those & the magnet type he’s using for that set. Also, how do they compare to Wizz & Wolfetone?

Thanks.

Got a video of the Holy Grail set above- they’re stellar. Mine is with NOS wire and it’s one of my top 5 PAF clones of all time. A little less sizzly than Wizz, but brighter and airier than my Throbak SLE-101

I have a Peter Green set ..the set is great but the neck pickup is special.
Years ago I asked him to do me a Kossoff set..this was before he offered them and might have been the first . He wound it with vintage wire .
I have them in a 62 reissue SG.
That guitar vibrates with those pups in it.

Good to know! I ended up getting the Wizz Koss & Jimmy Page (pre 72)` sets instead.
