Grover Deluxe tuners on a 2001 Les Paul Studio

Hi. I hope this is in the right place. Please forgive me if it's not.

I recently bought a 2001 Les Paul Studio (Flip Flop Teal) and I'm not sure about the tuners. As you'll see the bridge pickup has been swapped so I'm wondering if the tuners have also been swapped. They say "Grover Deluxe" on them and I've only ever seen that on an Epiphone before. It's my understanding that Kluson-style tuners like these on a Gibson usually say "Gibson Deluxe" on them but I'm not an expert by any means.

Do you think the tuners have been changed? If so, are Grover Deluxe lower quality than Gibson Deluxe?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

99.9% sure these are aftermarket tuners. And they're generally considered as good as the Klusons and sometimes better depending. I recently had a Studio from this era and as you've stated had the Gibson stamped back on them.

Btw, very nice Studio!

As I cannot see the images posted , I would ask if you see the tell tale signs of exposed screw holes and an indentation from prior tuning gears ? If so then these are replacement gears .Grover gears are very good and accurate and stable tuners and nothing to turn your noise up at .

If they have been changed as I suspect, they have the same screw positions and "footprint" as it were.

Then they came with Grovers as if they were Klusons you would be able to see it .

Perhaps you have misunderstood because you are unable to see the photo. They don't look like normal Grovers, they look like Gibson Deluxe Klusons but they say "Grover Deluxe" on them.

The cold staked posts holding the housing onto the base on the original die-cast Gibson Deluxe tuners form the '90s and '00s can fail and the tuners fall apart. That might've happened and the tuners were replaced with these. They'd be a direct fit.

That definitely sounds plausible to me. May I ask your opinion on the quality of the replacements?

I haven't tried them. I had a '90s Studio with a broken Gibson Deluxe tuner and found someone selling a partial set- one of theirs broke as well, to replace the broken one. That was over 20 years ago.

So they would be the Gibson branded Grovers that look like the metal keystone button tuners . Same footprint ?

Grovers are decent tuners.
If they have a smooth action and the guitar can be tuned to pitch, any brand is excellant.
Working, correctly fitted tuners NEVER cause tuning problems,

@El Gringo, they're Grover branded Kluson copies.

What people forget is that Kluson actually went out of business decades ago. The brand name was only revived in the last ten years or so.

If you Google "Grover Deluxe Tuners" you should find them, they look exactly the same as Kluson or Gibson deluxe tuners except that they have Grover Deluxe stamped on the back (pictures show up fine for me).
