The story of this Burst is the stuff dreams are made of. Rosie was given this Gibson Les Paul Standard 1960 with Gibsonette amp by her parents as a gift when it was brand new. She played it with her band The Rhythmettes (she must have been inspired by the amp!) for a few years before marriage and kids became more important than playing with the band. She put the guitar away and didn't think much of it until 55+ years later when her granddaughter expressed interest in learning to play the guitar and asked to borrow it (this was a few weeks ago!). The granddaughter started to realize exactly what it was after noticing that it wasn't quite like all the reissue guitars. The granddaughter gave it back to Grandma and informed her of what it might be worth today. I was thrilled to be able to connect Rosie with a buyer for the guitar after she shopped it around for a week. I think it was a whirlwind of a week for her! Congrats to her and her family on an amazing guitar and savvy sale.
This Gibson Les Paul Standard early 1960 is amazingly well preserved with nice color and killer top figure. It is completely original throughout and has pretty much all of the case candy including: hang tag/instruction manual, Mr. Dealer card, yellow toggle switch tag, orange Sonomatic string tag, leather strap, flat head screw driver, humbucker adjustment sheet, ABR-1 adjustment sheet, Stone case company case, case key, Gibsonette amp, and two pictures of Rosie with the guitar in 1962.
