Hi all,
We’ve been waiting for a long time to announce this - after our ‘53 ES295 restoration, 56’ ES175 restoration and and ‘65 ES335 restoration (the hardest one),
@DOTMKR (master luthier Ken McKay) and I found a 1958 @gibsonguitar bass that needed a new life -
the neck is warped sideways, and was re-fretted too many times so the board is thin and un-even, resulting in unplayable action
•
Hats off to master @DOTMKR for being an amazing partner in the quest for old tone
•
Special thanks to @jw.restoration who will shape the neck and for all things knowledge
•
Special thx to Don at @category5amplification for sourcing the pickups
•
We’re also considering making a replica of it, in the quest of learning if we could match the tone of both - what do you think?
