• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

A couple of Lesters just posted on Facebook by Rumble Seat Music ...

That is a group that Elliot had a few years back i think. The Bigsby Burst on the right went to Gil Southworth ,9-1998.I almost owned that one but backed out when Gil wanted 17-20 nice vintage guitars in trade for the burst. Thanks Great Shot.Mike B.

9-1998 is a favorite of mine - especially the little bit of unfaded color on the lower bass bout where your arm would rub. Makes me wonder if someone had an armrest on it at some point...

So, we could watch a game show based on the old ’What’s My Line’….…..”Will the real 9-1998 please plug in?”
Who has vetted the various examples of L.P.s with this serial number? ??

As for that unfaded area, it seems to my eye that the same lack of fading is exhibited on the treble side fr9: the waist to the lower bout????

And……I have to wonder which 9-1998 do you prefer? Still chuckling…..I am!

There was a "drive by" post recently stating the guitar pictured above has a restamped number, and that it was photographed with a scratched out s/n in some book. But the poster has never returned or shared details.
