• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Survey : if the Historics were made in China but half the price - would you buy one ?

Land, Mines...? China owns our debt. ...Among 'Others', who hold US Treasuries. And create fiat currency (what some think of as money). Debasement of which, the road to serfdom paves!
China owns almost everything. Matter of time before buy up Taiwan. And a world war vs china? They’d wipe out everyone with ground troops.

all I am trying to say is this :

your toaster - your blender
your feminine products
for the Vagina

you can bet your bottom dollar
they are all made in China

your video games - your clock
your favorite plastic Bong

you can be sure
all came from Hong Kong

We are no doubt dependent on the inflows of cheap Chinese imports. However, many of those same products are made in other Asian countries whose purpose and agenda is less antithetical to ours.

Given the increasingly adversarial intrestest between China and the West, China’s significant human rights issues, not to mention the initial secrecy and disinformation surrounding the pandemic from Wuhan that killed close to a million Americans and millions more across the globe, why speculate even glibly about Chinese Gibsons? Am I missing something here.

I’m a little more sanguine. The only upside to the War in Ukraine is that it shows the world even vastly superior forces can be
vanquished by courageous people fighting for their liberty. Never underestimate a persons desire to be free.

Hopefully at some point soon, congress will get their act together and enact and fund an aggressive program to have semiconductors made in the US. It should be an economic and strategic imperative.

No. But it has nothing to do with whether-or-not they're made in China. I just don't want a replica of a historic guitar at all. I want a guitar that has taken advantage of all the technical improvements that are available today.

Modernity ....there are degrees and limits....

- Firebird X modern?

- LP Standard HP modern?

- or Les Paul Modern Collection Modern modern?

I'll take the last one, or buy a PRS, for 'modern'

Companies like PRS, Schecter or Ibanez etc. embrace "modern" in my view. Gibson and Fender are more anchored in tradition, and that's fine too. I'm not against a guitar playin homage to tradition, but for me, that really is mostly limited to body shape. I think that the compound radius fretboard, locking tuners, noiseless pickups and 6-saddle bridge on my Tele make it a better guitar than faithful reproduction in the ways that matter to me. ACTUAL old guitars? Well they're cool, but for different reasons. Reporductions are the worst of both worlds. You're compromising (and paying) for something that, at the end of the day is a photocopy of the real thing.

I like my PRSs, and have Fenders with modern appointments to, and looking to add a newer Ultra.

While I agree somewhat? I don’t believe Russia was that serious about the War and they were overpowered. Russian military is ranked 5th largest. They allowed what happened to happen because they weren’t going to cause a world war. If they wanted Ukraine? They’d have taken it. Period. I don’t believe a damn thing the media spews on the subject. Because it was all about Ukraine. The Russians I’ve spoken to claim the regime was better than it is today. They wouldn’t mind it back to the USSR as it seemed to give them a better life. I don’t know? I don’t live there. But I’m not going to sit here and say Russian military is weak. They’d have taken the country in 2 days if they wished…

The Russian military is the 5th largest but it's shit. Come on, the pride of the Russian navy was an outdated ship built in the 80s. It's tanks are Soviet era and greatly flawed. It's nuclear arsenal would never reach the US and it's closest allies. It's soldiers are under trained and without morals. While I'm proud of the Ukraine forces, that would never happened to US Forces.

Do we know this as factual? Or from the media? They allowed tanks to be overtaken. They could’ve ran over ppl with them and demolished cities. Sure they did destroy things. But I don’t believe for one second this was actual war. Governments do strange things and force it’s people to think war ensued.

Dude. I really don't agree. NO evidence? WTF? Plenty of drone footage. No, I will not produce links. Do your own homework. 🙂
