• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

  • Well nice to meet you again lol! Jeff beck guitar is rad! I agree, it will only go up in value. The Stinger series was quite a run, the Cloud 9s, how close would you believe Dave and Gibson got to recreating the original 1959 era guitars? I remember once he immersed himself into Gibson Custom Shop we hardly ever saw him. They were traveling a lot. That was the most passionate I ever saw him and the dream to bring these guitars to the public consumed him. I haven't spoken to him in a couple years; his son said he was winding his own pickups at one point. He taught me everything I know about guitar repairs; from electronics to fret dressings! I rival the best out there, took his concepts and refined them too.
What is your opinion regarding various capacitors in tone circuits and the "magic" that they bring? Can you hear a definitive difference, or is the difference just too minimal to spend on? I'm gonna build a test circuit to try out various caps. BTW, if that person you sold #11 to ever wanted to sell it, please let me know. I'm considering selling my "Custom Shop Unbound" to get one. I'd prefer the ABR-1 bridge, although your Jeff Beck is rad. I think the Music Machine series was truly unique, although the Tom Murphy aged ones were very special too! If I can't get #11 ever again (not losing hope), I am thinking I'd get a R9 from the Dave, and Music Machine, era. From a tech standpoint, there was very minimal tech that I'd have to do at all to any of the Custom Shop Gibsons. Truly flawless, just setup according to the customers' specs and then detune for shipment! Good talkin' with you!
I remember your name for sure around Music Machine! Good to meet you! It's Strange that Dave was like that, acting somewhat cold...Did you buy one of the Music Machine 25th Anniversary guitars? You know, it was really frustrating working there and seeing all these truly amazing guitars and not having enough money to buy one of the 25th Anniversaries...#11 showed up on eBay, phenomenal top! My dream Gibson! I just didn't have the money. Sold for $6000 by a model train collector. #8 is on eBay right now, I'm doing everything I can to coax my wife into letting me get it.
Those were the great old days. I talk to DC every now and again and the last time I spoke to him he was not interested in guitars or talking about the old days at all. In fact he was a little cold in fact and that surpised me. I used to dealer with Kramer and Rick also. I am Mike Vitello. I still do seek mint unplayed MM guitars. I love them.

Hello, just logged on to the forum, seems you were fond of the old Music Machine days? I was the tech for Dave and Connie, one of two; Aaron Burnett being the other. Just wanted to say hello. Those were good days. Cheers!
