• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

anyone disappointed that their Les Paul Historic is a pre 2013 ?

All Historics are Structurally the same from 2002/2003 through today. With the exception of hide glue for the neck, nut material trus rod condom. Nothing els has changed. 2013 was no major change in anything. Gibson still to this day cant make a PAF worth anything. There so so at best. Any of...

lets identify exactly how a good vintage burst sounds different than a Historic .....

I was at Mandolin Brothers one day and Stan had a LL L5 on the wall right next to it the Historic model. I compared both and played both side by side. This was a perfect what to to just hear the difference in wood only. They sounded the same basically. But the LL sounded mature well played and...

lets identify exactly how a good vintage burst sounds different than a Historic .....

I neva bought Vintage for a reason. Yes i was offered and yes i had the opportunity. And i definitely know the people to get them from. I don't see the need to spend 600k+ on a guitar that i have already. As a professional musician i am very happy with my Historics. Burst are fantastic and...

lets identify exactly how a good vintage burst sounds different than a Historic .....

The reason a Burst is so expensive is because there where ruffly only 1700 built. The price is not reflecting quality its rarity and 50 years of a legend. A LP will sound like a LP even a norlin will still get you a LP sound.

lets identify exactly how a good vintage burst sounds different than a Historic .....

A better comparison would be to put your Historics up against the records of the mid 60s to late 70s. Because thats the tone that made this whole question in the first place. And your listing to a 5 to 10 to 15 year old burst on those records. Its been 28 years of Historics now. So there are...

lets identify exactly how a good vintage burst sounds different than a Historic .....

Historics vs Burst.... Well here is my 2 bits.... Back in the time when Bursts where first being discovered. Lest say for arguments sake earlier 60s. Rolling Stones up to Zeppelin. They were under 10 years old. I say this because, age has a factor that can be herd very clearly. Today there 60...

Not seeing any "new" Murphy Lab info , thought I would share mine .

A "Murphy Lab" is just a aged Historic. Its nothing different or special. If you didn't pay a premium for it Then just enjoy the guitar. don't worry about a name.

    Murphy lab… plastic?

Tom neva aged the plastic or metal. He did the body's then it was assembled. Thats why. This Lab thing there doing now is no different. Maybe they will change that.....

Did covid-19 increase the value of the 1960 60th Anniversary LP?

Ok for all the newbies out there. Historics will not be worth money in the future. There are 29 years worth of them out there. Anniversarys, special runs, limited edition..... on and on. Gibson Doesn't hold value in limited editions This is the way gibson operates planned obsolence. You should...
