• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What amp is Clapton playing through in this video?

IMHO this is Clapton's best tone and playing since his D & D days, but while he has his tweed Twins on stage there is also a smaller amp on a stand behind him. It's mic'd up and at the video's end it looks like Clapton moves over to it to get that final feedback. Does anyone know what that...

Is this just about the best Les Paul tone ever???

:wail http://youtube.com/watch?v=Tvr5HV_Bpbo Ghostly black and white images and some might complain about the sound quality but its a miracle this footage ever existed at all and a bigger miracle that it has survived. I don't know what else to say. Over the past 40 years I've heard the iconic...

Looking for an old thread of Gaston's

Last year (or the year before) GastonG posted a couple of soundclips of late 70's recordings he had made with his '59 Burst played through a Brown Deluxe and a Marshall 50 watt head. Those were killer tones and playing and I wanted to hear them again but can't find the thread???

Man, Is this Mick Taylor again w/Mayall?!?!?!?!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vNGkr-UvcsU Guitar starts at about 0:48, really takes off by 1:00. Not much video but again unreal tone from a live show. Is this Taylor and if so what song??? What show???:wow

After hearing this, I think Mick Taylor may be the greatest Bluesbreaker!

Found this last night: http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/ Simply scroll down to the JohnMayall1968-12-04 show (they're all listed alpahbetically) to hear some of the best Les Paul tone ever! While Clapton set the standard, and Green certainly ran well with the baton, Taylor, IMHO simply took...

Anyone know anything about this guitar?

Wasn't sure if I should post this here, but does anyone here know anything about a 1957 Junior (sn# 7 8643)? Its a light one at 6 lbs 13 oz, but it has changed hands three times on ebay since April of this year. Feel free to email me at larryhakim@hotmail.com if you have info about it you'd...

OK--So the '07 Bursts sound great, What about the '07 Juniors???

I'm in the market for a Junior--(haven't made up my mind as to single cut or dble cut yet) and have been following the threads talking about how good the 2007 Bursts sound which is apparently attributable (in part) to the wood Gibson is currently using. But what about the 2007 Historic reissue...

    LP Jr value???

Don't know if the Suburst Pub is the proper place for this question, but what is FMV for a 2001 single cutaway Les Paul Jr.? Guitar is in good shape, has a Seymour Duncan P90, and a compensated bridge, and is NOT the historic reissue version. Thanks!

Is there a LOW power speaker that "honks" like a D120???

Looking for a 12" 8 ohm speaker that can get close to that distinctive midrange-honk the JBL D120F's are famous for but need it in a 20-30 watt power rating to use with my SFDR. I'm trying to get closer to the Allman/Betts tones but don't want or need the loudness and efficiency of the JBL...

What are the signs and symtoms of transformer arcing?

What do I need to look (and listen) for to tell if the transformer in an old Gretsch amp is arcing? If one or both transformers are in fact arcing are they salvageable/repairable? Thanks, Larry

Anyone else try the D.I on their WeberMASS?

Just wondering if anyone else has tried to use the direct out as well. I had to twiddle and tweak alot to get the e.q. sounding acceptable but I was surprised by the results running my NOCD 5E5-A tweed pro into the Marshall Studio 15 via the MASS the other day. Very full sound albeit rather...
