• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I searched and I searched, but I couldn’t find any info on the RI ‘54. Like or dislike, pickups, sound, feel anything?

Search "R4BB", "R4 BB", "R4 Custom"...there should be a few threads here and there....they are rare guitars, so there's not all that much info out there compared to other Historic Reissues.

I had an '03 for a few years and it was a great guitar, almost 10lbs on the nose, the pickups were nice, but I did upgrade the P90. Played great, sounded really nice.

Here is the thread I started back when I got it in 2010.

Called (often) BB4. Also sometimes called THBB4 for 2016.

Massive like.

The staple is remarkably clear and yet you can push both it and the bridge and get it trashy.

Pumps out sounds all night long.

Easily one of my favorites.

The combo of a one piece chunk of hog, ebony board and the staple make it one of the most unique (yet fully identifiable) LP's made.

|When I was selling guitars 20-ish yers ago, we always had at least one of those in stock.
Couldn't give them away - at the time they were $2500. No one would touch them.
I liked it, but at the time I was more a humbucker guy.
If I knew then what I know now - same thing as a lot of guitars, amps, effects, etc.

I've wanted a BB4 and/or a BB7 for the longest time....but jeez, my shoulder can't handle over 8 lbs 6 oz.
And I foolishly passed on one of the Wildwood Special Run's a few year back. A Guitar Center somewhere in (I think) Tennessee had one of those R7 Custom/Emerald Green/triple p'up Chambered models. They evidently had it for a while and ended up blowing it out for right around $3k. But then, knowing myself, I would have bounced it soon enough, as the neck depth was only .925".

That was such a cool run of Wildwood guitars...I remember when they came out.

They did 3 pickup versions, and alnico versions...chambered, Cloud 9 style, nickel hardware and that Gretsch-style green... :)

This guitar below is not mine...just for reference.

yeah thats it....in fact that might even be the guitar.....I recall the serial number was either CR76021 or 23, but the Grovers were kidney Rotos...looks like these were changed...anyway, they only made between 15-20 of these Emerald Green Chambered Customs. LP Forum member and friend Dan Nichols ran the Chambered-Reissue .org site for a long time. I was hoping he'd hear from someone looking to sell, but no such luck. The website is still up , being handled by someone else now. Check it out. Some very cool looking guitars there.
I love black, but man something about these green one just look so cool.

The guitar sat in New Haven Ind. for 4 days before it moved. I should have walked there , then played “O’ Them Golden Slippers” all the way home
