Greetings!

I have just recieved my used 04 R9. It came from Mark's Guitar Loft ( Thanks a million! ).:applaude :applaude

According to Gibson, it left the factory November 5, 2004 and was shipped to California. It has the custom authentic finish, black back plates and a Gibson Custom case. It also came with the correct COA.

According to Mark and Gibson, I THINK it's all original; but I want to make sure I have all of the correct goods that came with the guitar.

Can anyone answer the following questions for me?

If you bought an 04 R9 new, what case did it come with? What case candy did they have? What color are the back plates supposed to be.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I did when I bought it. He said that what it came with was all he had. He gave me what info he had about the other owner and it wasn't much.

I know how Gibson is and I'm just trying to find out what peole who bought a R9 new in 04 have.

Todd,

Thanks dude. I know that Mark's a straight shooter. I've done business with him before.

This R9 has black back plates while my R7 has an Iced Tea finish and brown plates. I bought it new from Wildwood.

Oh well, we all know how Gibson does stuff.

BTW, Thanks for the info. I'll be looking to get all the goodies.

Bob, All R9's come with black back plates. Your "Refin" R7 came with brown plates because all goldtops came with brown originally so Gibson tried to keep those guitar as they were originally a goldtop.

Yes, it is a R7 Refin in Ice Tea. I got it from Wildwood. It's my #1 and I can't wait to A/B it with the new R9.

Todd,

The new one is here. I just got it set up at Lay's. Actually I just got through playing a little with both of them. As far as I can tell the R9 sounds like the R7, maybe a little brighter. I'll have to play more this weekend. I have band practice tomorrow and I'll take the R9.

I have already changed the knobs on the R7. I got a set of aged amber from RS a few years ago. What would you change them to?

How cool is that - even an off center seam. Really nice. And the grain is also very pretty. I didn´t even know they made those. Can you tell me a little more about these guitars - was it a special run?
I´m nor trying to hijack your thread - just out of interest. I could also start a new thread on this if you don´t want to get off topic here.

BTW: Do I spot a few Fender Amps in the Background there :) ??
