• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Possible one of the first SJ's. Notice the peghead logo,
and bound fingerboard and skunk stripe.

Great - you should post this in the vintage section at the UMGF too...I am sure they will LOVE to see this.

Gibson actually used East Indian Rosewood. Clay already posted this one on the UMGF, it's a very interesting guitar.

Absolutely amazing, thanks for sharing Clay.

Does it have an interesting story, like the one you had about another old acoustic some time ago?

Hey, Clay -

Amazing guitar - but shouldn't the board be unbound?

Yours in AVH-ality,

Myles

Should be but the logo should also be the modern script. It appears to be a very unique piece.

There are a couple of early SJ models documented with
fingerboard binding. It's not the norm, but neither is
the peghead logo. the general idea is this is (maybe
the "first"?) SJ and the fingerboard is from an L-7 or something,
when Gibson was just figuring out how this model would be.
No good stories on this guitar, i bought it from a guy that
bought it at a pawn shop in the 1970s.
