Very nice guitar - I'm sure the new owner is going to be very pleased with this fine example - what ever the sale price - sure would be amazing if one thread of this fashion could yield positive posts in aggregate - you are exposed = Envy when you don't have one & your neighbor dose's !!

No envy here, I have one in, essentially, unused condition with all the fruit.

I still think it’s a silly price.

Business sense would champion the raising of the bar owning a 57 - Logically speaking - as my point is subjective I find your silly opinion being the owner of 57 much like pissing in ones bath water . But than again I'm speaking as the owner of a brick & mortar 40 year & going successful business.

When folks think like this it doesn't take long for others to see the pattern that their "opinion" is simply a matter of $$ and thus eventually tune them out. I can't speak for anyone else, but I think plenty of people were equally as passionate about these things at 5K price tags than they are at 500K.

I don't know what point you're trying to make, it's quite hard to decipher the jumble of words masquerading as a sentence.

"Business sense" doesn't come into it. I'm not in the business and don't want or need to be.

I bought a 57GT around eight years ago for a third of the price of the OP guitar. It's mint. I wouldn't pay $240k for either mine or the OP guitar, which I think is a silly price, particularly for one with an average refret, wear and replaced parts. I've kept the GT because it's a better playing and sounding LP than any other I've owned or played. Period.

If you think different, good luck, that's what makes the world go round. Quite what owning a "brick and mortar" store has to do with anything is beyond me.

I believe the reality is that that this price is cup of tea money for a certain demographic.

Being both skint and the non jealous/resentful sort I shall console myself with the fact that I can play the bastid better than the monied.

That's told em.
Well said Paul I also believe this is sass money for some & those who own a 57 their value just increased - Carter knows better & what the market will pay . Are things well ? - Hello Paul !

I remember when John got his ridiculously mint, and I mean ridiculous, beauty.

Tom Allen's is an eye popper too.

Isn't it bloody fantastic we get to see these wonderful guitars.

Don't know about 8 years ago, seems more like a fortnight. Where does the time go?

I also remember Joe playing it at the Royal Albert Hall under battle conditions, he launched into his solo and hit the neck pickup - my ears nearly fell off.

Unbelievable guitar.

I'm sure John has a link to the video, how about it Mate?

Hold is off - no longer available

OP's link still shows it is for sale @ $240K. The previous buyer must have gotten cold feet when they realized the originality was compromised by locking strap buttons. Not being identified in the detailed description led them to question the overall vintage appraisal and ultimately walk away from the pending deal.

Wow, selling a potential recording breaking price GT and the sales platform doesn't operate properly. Maybe that is why they missed the strap buttons. Too busy making sure they got it posted online.

Do you know this as fact? I question b/c though the strap buttons weren't mentioned in the description they are clearly visible in the photos. AFA the originality that was already compromised by the refret and the replaced bridge saddle (the refret wouldn't stop me from buying it, I'd probably have it done post-sale anyway as I have done in the past).

You may be right but if I was dropping nearly a quarter million dollars on a guitar I'd have those photos imprinted in my brain.

I have noticed that the "new" Carter's is somewhat flippant on descriptions in general. The descriptions run short, with very little attention to detail and occasionally, outright errors.

As I said, I wouldn't buy strings from them.
