• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Some more pics from the current owner, who restored it by replacing the zebras with period-correct PAFs, installed Klusons and refretted with the right fret gauge... 8 2794

Edited.

Mis-read. Didn't realize this auction was last year.

Zorglub, what is the meaning of the title of this thread? :hmm
It's in the item description and wasn't there already a thread about this guitar with a link to the owner's son playing it?

OOPS just noticed the thread is from last year. :##

I jut looked [again] at the item description and see nothing about an island.
Is it really so much trouble to answer my question? I don't get this "island" reference.

Here you go Tom

"1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop Solid Body Electric Guitar, Serial # 8 2794. Desirable later 1950's PAF Goldtop. This example has a finish that appears to be original with a 3-piece maple top. Pickups are changed to later PAF zebras. Neck pickup has gold poll piece screws. Pot date codes read 134738 indicating 38th week of 1957. Moderate but unusual weather checking but the guitar did spend a considerable amount of time in an island climate. Minor finish dings. Guitar has ben re-fretted with larger frets. Tuners have been changed to Grovers. ABR-1 bridge and tailpiece are original. Pickup surround rings appear to be correct. Close personal inspection of this guitar is advised. Newer Gibson hard case included. Condition: Good. Price Guide Value $80,0000"

I just hope it wasn't FUGAZI ISLAND :rofl

Thanks Richard.
I didn't see that, as I was looking for a location name that was an island.

Fugazi Island .... isn't that where they found Beano? :ganz
