Gorgeous - that gets my vote for coolest ES-335 ever. I'll bet it would even make Keef green wif envy.

Well now... the question should not be whether or not the finish is original - the question IS > would I own a refinished guitar (?)

- it's ok moon - I respect you - I still gotta start my 68 GT Thread in your honor... someday I hope to get the time...

The finish is as Virgin as Mother Mary herself

I know - I'm new at this game (really ?), but in time you guy's will learn to trust in me...

Oh, and thank you for chiming in # 12 Banker - always enjoy all your words of wisdom

Peace Brothers,
Lary

No offense intended Lary :) :) :) -- I should have phrased that differently. Astonishingly beautiful guitar. I cannot fathom how someone special ordered that and then did not play it. I couldn't resist it

I love the hand correction from 345 to 335 in the ledger and on the label.

Just looking at this one again.

What a guitar! I'm not generally a fan of black, but this is something else!

The ABR is nice and low too, so I presume the neck angle is good. Out of interest, is there any white in the PU's if you've looked? Love the black knobs, are they original to the guitar? Looks better with no white in the f-holes too....and the colour match between body and headstock is so cool.

A genuinely once in a lifetime guitar.....she's a keeper!

How does she sound Lary?

It sounds great !
But it's the RESPONSE that is so crazy - hard to put in words but I'll try... no other guitar I have ever played (1000's) can respond like a Sax like this one can (I don't have a clue how to play the Sax, but being a big fan of the instrument and having listened to so many great players, I had always wished to get that response from a guitar - you know what I mean ?)... truly unbelievable dimension of tone, so dynamic, the resonance and sustain, so responsive, this thing BREATHS from sleeping soft to fire breathing dragon - all depending on how you touch her - this thing is ALIVE - absolutely unbelievable... GREAT set of PAF's for sure and thanks to such great engineering / design of a guitar... IMHO these late 50's ES-335's are the greatest guitars ever made. And this ones Black...

Here’s the Killer > you simply just would not believe how good the Neck feels...

Thank you, just got lucky... Old guy walks into a shop, says he's got a nice guitar to sell that he wants to go to a good home, shop owner calls me (middle of day at work - I can still picture every moment vividly - I dropped EVERYTHING), the rest is history...

Black is Beautiful

Yes, ABR is low (good eye - I'm a detail guy myself > how about that TRC gap - biggest I ever seen). Neck Angle makes for VERY comfortable bending

I'm not touching one screw on the PAF's to check color, 'cuz it really don't matter...

Black Knobs original.

All stock right down to and including the Switch Tip > except Tuners off and back on - actually have a set of early 58's on now and preserving originals (shrunk, very dark tips)

Never thought about that color match between body and headstock until now - your right - that is cool ! Thanks !!

I'm struggling to get my head around this guitar. I know what you mean by good 335's, they're off the scale.

Wow!

Stunning. Here's an interesting theory as to why it was erroneously designated a 345. FON 8537 is the "first rack" of 345's. I've had seven guitars from that rack and all have been 345's. Gil has mentioned that he thought there were 345's in rack 8536 but I haven't seen one yet. My FON database shows that the guitar was shipped much later than the other guitars in that rack which have serial numbers in the A298xx to A299xx range. I'm guessing the neck is pretty big if it's anything like the rest of that rack.
