• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

About a couple of months agao I was offered this 1959 Gibson Les Paul TV Model.
This was one of Rich Robinson's main recording and gigging guitars.
e.g. it was used when The Black Crowes toured with Jimmy Page in
the 90s.
The Pro-Seller mentioned that this model sometimes is mistaken for
a Les Paul Junior. Can somebody please tell me the difference between
this one and a Junior.

No difference but the color (in '58-'61 yellow vs red). TVs are considered cooler and cost more.

Thank you guys. That was fast.

The knobs, yes. The seller listed that along with a few other "issues".
The p/up cavity once was slightly widened to house another p/up and it had
Grovers installed for a while. Originals are back on now. Finish is original.

I'd LOVE to have an ex RR guitar....vintage or not! Hope this works out for you!

That Les Paul certainly looks like a legit Rich Robinson / Black Crows guitar, BUT I would be very weary about an RR guitar or gear without clearly identifiable photographic proof.

Heavily rumored that a LOT of fake docs surround his gear. :fc

There is one other difference that almost everyone forgets ... the TV Model silkscreen on the headstock, instead ot the Junior silkscreen. :ganz

Very cool TV! I also have a '59 and love it. Came from Vic Dapra's shop back in 2007 - 100% original.
