The owner definitely knows how to change his strings. I just offered to because we are always honored when we can have the real deal in house.

That '59 looks like 9 1960 to me. I'm pretty sure the owner knows how to change his strings. :ganz

Very nice work and no offense, but in all honesty I think it looked better in the before....
Wonderful work Kim! The guitar looks great. I don't want to add more fuel to the serial # saga. I would just leave it without a number. The Koss burst doesn't have a number and it sounds fantastic! Serial# albeit very important in this world are not why these guitars are so coveted.
Happy New Year LP Fourm members!

Happy New Year to you as well !
Why not put a 1959 number on it to match the 1959 finish ?
..There's no doubt in my mind that the new finish looks a million times better, and is way more historically accurate.
The back as well as the top.
Would be interesting to see a similar shot with "Ruby" but bathed in full sunlight, although we all know that photos rarely do these girls justice!
I get what you're saying Joe, but you can bet if we'd left the guitar with no number, many would feel that the restoration was incomplete.
I'd be one of 'em!
Next time you're performing in Brisbane Australia, or at the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival, you're more than welcome to put "Candy" :wah through her paces! eace2
The serial number is just a formality and actually helps to document this guitars story, I fell if it would have been left blank it might have been easier for its story to get lost. now we have one more identifying mark for future generations to I.D this baby!
:dude:Thanks, Now your not only a friend of Gibson but your a friend of HM as well. [/IMG]
