• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I played that super nice 1960 burst today in NOLA !
It did remind me my old '60 (0 8070).

serial 0 7171 (a new one here... )
and if you look at 0 7169 at burstserial.com, it does have the same rich sunburst color (not tomato soup at all)

nice rich deeper red sunburst !

Gaston :salude

Don't know what you guys are getting so worked up about, it's only a five string.

It's a shocking but little known fact (being kept quiet by those with a vested interest in doing so...) that many Burst owners are so financially stretched as a result their purchase that they can no longer afford a full set of strings.

Vivid red suggesting a guitar that didn't see a ton of daylight, but a re-fret and stop tail/bridge wear suggesting the opposite (?).

Great photos, beautifully flecked maple!

It is from the era of the non-fading red. :)

Seriously? 1960 lacquer/dye different than '58, '59? 'Never knew this -

Not the entire year, but starting somewhere roughly half way.
Pretty common knowledge for decades. :salude

Wow! If it looks that good in a photo, I can imagine how good it must look in person. :salude

I played this when I was down there for my birthday at the end of the January. Shop owner was very nice.

-Cali girl case in decent shape
-thinner but rounded neck, extremely vibrant
-on the heavy side, easily over nine pounds
-amazing ruby red color

I'll post my couple pics later today
