I've had three old Melody Makers, including a '59. The one that I've kept is actually a '63 Epiphone Olympic. Same guitar. Amazingly resonant! I don't think I have a solid body guitar that's louder acoustically.

Nice MM!

My friend (that doesn’t play guitar) has a ’59 MM that belonged to his dad. I’ve tried to buy it from him for years, but he won’t sell it. It was in pristine condition. But it’s been a wall hanger in his house now for a few years, with a wood stove like 8’ away from it. It’s probably good and toasted by now.

Love my 63 single pickup MM. DC like Mike's. I put a Curtis Novak P-90 in it and it sings.

Absolutely love my '61 double cut with single pickup...purchased about 10 years ago for £700. Original single coil sounded great but squeeled badly. Curtis Novaks made me a P90 to fit without any additional routing and this thing is amazing. Rings like a bell acoustically and sustains like crazy....loads of natural aging and I could have sold it dozens of times....and on top of that, Honduras Mahogany and Brazilian Rosewood.....the absolute bargain in vintage Gibsons, especially now that 50s and early 60s Juniors are so expensive.

This is my 1964 MMD.
Very beautiful one piece mahogany body.
Brazilian rosewood fingerbord is so dark, like ebony.
I love her so much.
