• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I just got my 'new' 1972 Ampeg V2 back from my amp tech and used it on 3 gigs. Fat, clean, present and monstrously loud, playing this amp is an amazing experience. Notes jump out of the speakers when you lay into the guitar. I'm currently using it with a master volume box sold by Fliptops but I have a 100 watt Weber MASS on order so I can hit the power tubes a bit and still keep the volume at a less than Satanic level.
I've been wanting an Ampeg V series amp for many years and was lucky to find this one in all original, very clean condition.

Are those your favorite settings?
What kinda music do you play with it? I have a V-2 of the same era. Great, underrated, still-cheap amp.
More or less what I used live this week, though I was running the volume around 5 or so and probably a little lower reverb setting. I'm running it through a Marshall 1960A cab. I'm still experimenting with the mid settings. When I get the MASS in I will work with the higher volume settings. With the master volume box I'm using now the cleaner tones sounded better, and man, the clean tones are great. I am using a Xotic AC booster and a Landgraff dynamic overdrive for my overdriven tones.
I play in a Blues/rock trio.
