• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I have a 4 piece maple top on this LP. I know they are supposed to have 3 piece maple tops. A luthier friend of mine told me that Gibson had 3 and 4 piece maple tops on the early Norlin LPs. Does anyone know that to be factual?

I've seen plenty of Norlin Les Pauls with 3,4,6,and even 7 pc tops but 3pc is probably the norm.

Most had 3 piece tops, but sometimes they had 5 or 7 too. I dont think it has influence on the tone.

Beautiful cherry burst. Doesn't matter how much pieces... The sound is more important!
