• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

19 is really stunning, wow. Congrats Mike and please post some good pictures of it some day. The rest do nothing for me.

The finishes really are all over the place with this run. Drastically major differences in the ones in this thread and others. Makes you wonder how many different sprayers Gibson has doing these. For a finish like this you think they would find one guy that has it down and let him do them all.

The finish on #28, #19 and #32 look pretty nice. #5, #10, #30 and #11 that I have seen look like they belong with something other than a Donna CC run IMO.

Agreed but I think Gibson QC just sucks, one would expect their best guys to be one every aspect of their highest end guitars - but sadly that does not appear to be the case. Some of these look like they have been sprayed by an apprentice with no reference to the original.

I think we also need to take into consideration that we are looking at photos. I can take 10 different photos of the Nicky CCs I have, and they all look significantly different in each photo. Red is notoriously hard to photograph....believe me I KNOW!:hee It's been the curse of me for years!:##

I just returned 19, due to a broken truss rod. I dont like the sellection of the other Donna's, this place has in stock. In person the others look bland. The whole CC idea is starting to fade. Going to look at a signed Ace tomorrow. I wont part with any money, until I am satisfied.

yeah, you sure are ! ...were you there watching ?..so I guess they torqued the nut doing a set up and the rod snapped ?

No, I was not there. I was due to pick it up after the set up, but they were honest and called to say that the truss rod was not functioning. Dont know if it broke before or during set up. Its still for sale on their website, if you are interrsted :hee

Is the "truss rod not functioning" code for "we've snapped the nut off during set-up" I wonder?

Whatever has happened it's a bloody shame, but accidents do happen.

Hope you get fixed up Mike. :salude

I've noticed that a few recent Historic's have very little or no tension on the truss rods with necks that are dead straight with no relief.

There was a problem with some Nashville made guitars a few years ago where the fret slots were not cut wide enough and when the frets were installed the necks were stiff and bent back with the russ rods doing nothing. I hope that's not re-occuring. :dang
