I have a 2022 LP Junior that per the spec sheet has hand wired volume & tone controls w/ orange drop. when I got it a Fralin P90 had been installed with the original Gibson Controls in place. The problem is that the volume control completely cuts out around 8. I sprayed it with contact cleaner and now it cuts out at 8 but comes back on at 10. There seems to be a slight bit of play in the control and if i wiggle it it will engage but it requires pressure to stay engaged. What do you guys recommend ?Replace the volume pot or go with a complete vol tone over haul? I am really happy with the tone and if I turn my amp up it gets the job done on 8. Its just erratic. If any of you have had this issue I would be very appreciative of your input . Thanks in advance

Thanks for the input friends ....guess I was just wondering if there was any other fixes other than new parts but I guess as Charliechitlins said some one fried the pot I guess 500K pots are what are used on the juniors? Thanks again for the responses, the forum always comes to the rescue.

I’d change the set and go with VIP pots. They sound and feel the best out of everything I’ve tried, barring original centralab. You won’t be disappointed. I have no affiliation with VIP, just a fan of their stuff.

@roaddawgie Sorry to hear this but having a 'bad' pot in a 2022 guitar is just insane. As others have stated just change the pot but go ahead and change them both, IMO. I just can't understand a basically new guitar having a crappy pot  and in particular a Gibson.

I have some 500K ohm NOBLE pots in some Tokai LS guitars that are ~40 years old and original to the respective guitars that still work like new. Amazing .......

It’s not Gibson fault …. I not the guitar used and a fralin P90 was installed …. I think who ever did the install cooked the volume pot …. I think the 2022 is a great guitar I really like the fralin p90 too. I have heard good things about the Gibson p90 as well but have never actually heard one in action. The fit and finish if this guitar IMO is excellent, having said that I do think that off the rack it is a bit overpriced I guess you could say that about a lot of guitars nowadays again I’m very happy having this used version with the Fraylin P90
