• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Today is as good of a day as any to give Super Sessions a spin.

I entered this planet 13 month after Michael died. Obviously I never saw him play live but I enjoy his music weekly if not daily.
He's one of the main reasons why I play guitar.

I grew up in a town neighboring where he lived as a teen so I like to think I drank some of the same water he did.

Never to be forgotten.

Early 70s I was in Junior High and my older cousin lived with us. "A Long Time Coming" mysteriously vanished from his crate and reappeared in mine. Bloomfield has never been out of mind since.

I'm a longtime jazzbo, but Bloomfield fits right there. He achieved what every jazzbo seeks -- a personal voice on the instrument. He played in the moment always. He brought what he had, didn't stoop to less or pretend to more. He listened to himself and his band, and treated each mistake as an opportunity to visit a cool, unexpected place.

Viva Bloomfield!

I find it chillingly ironic that I listened to Supersession, Live Adventures, and Lost Concert today at work. Bloomfield is my all time favorite guitarist, but I had no idea that today is the anniversary of his passing. I could listen to His Holy Modal Majesty on repeat all day.

that is a great pic

...weird timing, just yesterday ( as I was waiting to see Albert Lee ) I wandered into a record store and found these:

I will clean them up, and give them a spin tonight, in Mike's honour

RIP
That 2nd album is really no REALLY great. KGB not so much... Man I spent a lot of the 80's looking through album bins. I know I got KGB from a bin, but I may have bought Bloomfield new. Enjoy!
