Anybody want to weigh in on the possible outcome of swapping the A2/A5 magnets in a 409R/498T set with A4 mags, or maybe move the A5 from the bridge to the neck and try an A4 in the bridge? Thanks for your thoughts.

I swapped the bridge A5 into the neck and bought an A8 for the bridge. I wanted more beef in the bridge.
The A4 is weaker than an A5. The A4 fights boominess in the neck on the low E string, if needed.

I’m looking for a suggestion that balances the neck and bridge tonal response and if possible also tamed the bridge pickup shrillness. Any other suggestions out there?

When I do that I start with an A5 for the neck and an A3 for the bridge. That seems to work for me. A5 all around does too.

I've made two mag swaps that I liked with the "dread set":

A3-modded 490R/A2-modded 498T

A4-modded 490R/A8-modded 498T

Those were the only ones that worked OK, relatively speaking.

The A3/A2 made the guitar tone more "vintage-y", the A4/A8 turned it to a rock machine, even though with this mag set you can literally play any type of music, even the heavier styles.

I have a couple of A4 magnets sitting around, where is a good source for an A8 magnet? Thanks!
