Another POV....
GC has them here listed at $3699(!), but at least I get to try them now. Not a popular view here, but overall I was a little let down. Still a very nice guitar just not compelling enough of one to get me to sell my '00 GT which was sort of what I was expecting to want to do.
My biggest letdown was the frets...I've got big hands and fingers and and like to play with .10s or .11s and for me, the railroad tie frets on the '99/'00s seem to feel better. I can really dig in. The two new '58s I tried also had a fair amt of filler in the inlays and I just thought the inlays looked cheap and dull in general. The neck shape was perfect, though, and I loved it fatness.
Give me a '99/00 any day.
