Here's a possible '67 Basket Case for Sale on ebay. The seller says he will posting additional photos today:

The cherry 67 V shown above use to be mine. I sold it to a dealer in Japan. It is a refin that I had restored many years ago. I will eventually dedicate a thread to the before and after pics. You won't believe what is use to look like. I am the "buddy" with the three 67 Vs that was spoken about when this link started. My collection pic from 2010 is shown below.
I will be posting a new collection pic that includes my super rare 67 Sparkling Burgundy V the end of the year.
.
Kind of interesting, here is the only known example of an alternative case for these. It's a soft-shell black/red interior that my Tobacco guitar came with:
I just found another early 70's stop tail V that sold recently on ebay. This one was just like mine only mine had no volute. This one has a small one. Huge neck and a blue lined case. They do exist!

Just came across this old thread. Yes ianman these in between late 60 's very early 70's vee's. w stop tp's do exist . Back in the day I was the go to guy when it came to finding older guitars. I was in my first garage band and needed to find the other guitar player a real guitar as he was playing some sg copy. Anyway off I went and bought a flying v. It was about 1975-1976 at the latest. I was playing my dad's 1969 goldtop thru this funky old premier combo, both of which I still have. This was one of many of those guitars I bough for a friend that I wished I'd kept . What I remembered and really liked about this guitar were the era specific similarities between my 69 goldtop and the v..from what I recall, it had impressed gold eight digit serial number either 800k or 900k series, gold patent number pups, extremely light natural finished body w stop Tp and thin Tom bridge, white PG, big round three piece neck w unbound RW fretboard, les paul style jumbo frets , kluson double ring tuners, no volute, no made in usa and I think blue lined Gibson case like the one pictured on eBay. I often wondered about this axe as was the lightest v I have ever played and often wondered if it was some one off korina special order , especially since I know it was finished in natural. Also that round clubby neck was to die for and reminded me of my 69 hand carved neck as my goldtop has a very distinct non symmetrical heel shape. It was an absolute delight to play as it had super light action and one of those special electrics that resonated for days without even being plugged in. I too have found over the years that this guitar is not to have existed as I would conclude it was probably a late 1969 early 1970 v. I also recall l meiners stopping by with a preliminary copy of his then new v book( think I had a 60's v or medallion v case for sale or something). I recall talking about this particular v with him and he probably thought I'd just burned one. Of course without pics this could be just conjecture or some hallucination...after all it was the 70's but one never forgets his first garage band. It was great to see your thread and that v on eBay w the 900k serial number and stop Tom was the closest thing I've seen yet. Too bad about all of those changed parts. Think I might try and facebook that old guitar player friend
but I had not seen hide nor hair in a few decades.
I think there is a lot of wishful thinking on these guitars, Its my understanding there was a batch of V`s with a small or no volute, no made in the USA stamp that were from 1975, both the ebay auctions list guitars with stamped pat No pickups that were original to the guitar, These didnt start until 1975 :wah
I know this is an ancient thread, but I think this is the explanation. Check out this eBay listing that just ended earlier today. No volute, I doubt ever had a made in the USA stamp, etc., and despite all the mods and issues, definitely from 1975:I think there is a lot of wishful thinking on these guitars, Its my understanding there was a batch of V`s with a small or no volute, no made in the USA stamp that were from 1975, both the ebay auctions list guitars with stamped pat No pickups that were original to the guitar, These didnt start until 1975 :wah
That is one crude and ugly headstock there On that ebay guitar. No serial number, no logo….and the shape is all wrong to my eye. I did see what appeared to be a 1980 V that had the same type of crude shape, though. That guitar would be a hard sell to me.I know this is an ancient thread, but I think this is the explanation.
