The flame tops from '98 are characterised by a particular butterscotch colour, peculiar to that year. Lets see yours. Here's mine.

Peter Green/Out of Phase fan?:ganz

Ha, you spotted it! Actually it's more complicated than that, but that's what it looks like, and I'm happy with that 'look'. Right, my two fave tones on a leccy are a LP bridge pickup and a Strat neck pickup. So, getting as near to the Strat neck pickup as I can, I put magnets in place of the plain steel slubs in the neck humbucker and run it as a single coil. It gives me a floozy, stratty type of sound for rhythm and SRV/Hendrixy stuff, and then just flip to the bridge pickup and I've got LP power for soloing. Basically, I'm not a fan of humbuckers in the neck position; they sound good for some things - woman tone solos and stuff, - but as most things are a compromise, I prefer single coils at the neck. So that's why the pickup is turned around, to get the single coil pickup (with magnets) next to the fretboard. And basically, no-one knows that I'm running a single coil at the neck, the look of the LP is not spoilt in any way, it looks like a Peter Green setup.

Wow, very nice looking guitar! That top would be called a '59 by today’s standards...

Beautiful guitar, Steve! Here's my '98 (R8), although the color in the photo looks a little more orangy than how the guitar usually appears in person:

Fantastic. Great looking guitars guys. And the one is the same butterscotch colour as mine. Obviously photographs vary and TBH mine is not quite so 'lemony' as my pics; a tad warmer.

Those are all gorgeous! My 98 is a washes cheery turned iced tea. Very flamed but all the ones pictured here are way nicer!

Here's another '98 (R9), with a DJ installed Brazilian board, in desperate need of some plastics upgrades:
