• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

About when did the short PGs appear on 335s?

I'm babysitting my friends 60 335. It has a long pic guard. I was expecting it to have a short one. It's a late 60, judging from the A3573X serial number. It has an 'R' in the FON.
Any insight into when the long Pickguards were starting to get phased out?
Thanks,
Russ

there was a transitional period in 1961. My ES-335 left Kalamazoo on the 10th of April 1961 with a short guard, but with dot markers

All 1961 ES-335s should have dots.
The dot markers lasted into 1962. :)

If I'm not mistaken, the long guard transitioned closely with the Axxxxx serial numbering :jim
