ok,let me just say that this was the best 35.00 i think i have ever spent on a guitar-big deal right? well, last night i installed it on my stock y2k r9 and played a little thru my tech 1 trademark 10-i was impressed with the increased harmonic content and the more noticeable string seperation even at low volumes with trying all kinds of amp settings and pickup postions.
I really didnt get the full story until tonight at band rehearsal playing through a 100w super lead full stack(i know,i know-are you nuts?what could you possibly hear at those volumes?-right?)-well, i run a pedalboard with some sansamp gt2's so the amp doesnt get much past 2 on the volume and stays nice and clean so the volume is not insane, just fat and full-the second i plugged in and strummed some chords clean with the neck position pickup i couldnt believe my ears -the chords just rang forever, almost chimy and the single notes had a presence to them i had never heard before, especially during lead work. now to the distortion, with one sansamp set for a classic british tone like ac/dc the guitar was F***KING ALIVE!!! you know the beginning to you shook me all night long?-that chiming shit-unreal-never mind the fat, earthy but still forceful and bright power chords-moving on to the second sansamp set for a nasty ,grinding(not to much dirt) metal rythm tone-i was blown away again the guitar acyualy sounded more agressive now, more real and the harmonics!-oh shit move over Zakk(well;) )off of both of these base dirty tones i boost with maxon od set for a clean boost and let me tell you,it sung, screamed like i always hope-responding to every nuance-even with the sansamps off and just the maxon on it was sweet-i am absolutely astounded in the difference-even the drummer and bass player said what did you?. maybe others wont dig it but ill never go back-it almost sounds old now and i hear that double tone thing more now,so i look forward to some pickup tests too-ill be picking up 50's pots and caps saturday so those are next-my bridge 57 classic reads 8.02k and my neck reads 7.77k.the guitar weighs 8.1 lbs with the lightweight tailpiece installed if anyone is looking for reference point.
By the way with the super lead dimed for amp distortion it was all the same-f***ing unreal:dude

Thanks MH! I've got one of those Allparts lightweight tailpieces for my Y2K R9 and it's cool. I wrap the strings over the top of it... I play some slide. They do sound good.

A dimed 100 watt Plexi?! ... I remember those days... about as much fun as you can have without a long legged blonde :lolspin!

Rock on! :dude

I think it was the people who compared the allparts tailpiece to the lightweight 01 gibson tailpieces that said the allparts sounded thin.

So where can I get one for $35.00? Allparts has them listed for $70.00.
