• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

An 97' R0 and 97' R8 for an aged Bloomfield?

Sorry no pix handy, both killer guitars, or I wouldn't have kept them all these years while gear always comes and goes so easily.
I can't part with my Murphy's on trade. Who knows I'll probably have to pony up a little cash.
I know I'm late to the party on the aged Bloomy's; but he's been such a huge influence on me since the early 70's.
I'm going to do the deal.

I would buy the Bloom and then sort out what to do with the other two. You don't want to jump into a situation you may end up regretting unless you are totally sure you don't want the R0 and R8 any more. The grass is always greener mentality usually ends up being not the case.

Ya mean, the grass is always greener;
but it still has to be mowed. :rofl

That RO I'm ready to let go of. The R8 with the 3d holographic irradesent top, not so much.
I have some amps and custom shop Fenders I suppose I could horse trade.

I have to admit the Bloomy Murphy I checked out is pretty special....see if you can get it without giving up guitars you love, like you and Whiskey were hinting at

Ya know,,,,for me, the 97's were a great run of guitars. I'm sure everyone has taken a peek at the one on Mark's site, (granted refined by Murphy).
I haven't played or owned a 97' that wasn't a great ax.
I'm a little surprized they don't get more repect.
The mispaced pick-ups do annoy the crap out of me though.

It all hinges magic of thses Bloomfields. Some guitars have that magical thing where one sniff, one look, one lick, and nothing else matters.

O.K.
I'll take that as a "No"
But, I'm glad I didn't share your thought process when I traded a few guitars for my R9 aged Page..

I dunno, I just came back from playing a shopfull of so-so Historics. Really made me appreciate mine. when you get a special one it's worth its weight in gold. and you want to trade two that you really like for a guitar which is basically just a status symbol? Or maybe I'm missing the point and you are coming at it from the investment angle, in which case maybe you are right. But personally, I'd be glad to miss that particular point.
The one time I traded a "keeper", well I haven't stopped regretting it yet.
Then again, the shop I was just in had a VOS and and Murphy Bloomfield. Didn't play 'em but they sure looked very nice.
To me, it's all about the tone, I could care less about the limited run collectables. YMMV.

I agree if you find a "keeper" you ought to keep it. We all seem to buy a bunch of guitars and love them when we first get them, then the honeymoon is over and they are just nice guitars.

If you happen to get one that really impresses you over the long haul, don't ever get rid of that one.

Sounds like you better keep the R8 and find a different way to get the Bloomy.

The Bloomer will be in tomorrow for the full hands on.
Me thinks I'm in big trouble.
I'm going down boys. I'm sinking like the Titanic.

I do have a masterbuilt Strat with a true Brazilian I could off. :hmm

In today's market, $3,500, or more if it just knocks your socks off.

I let go of a killer R0 for alot of cash. I figured if I missed the R0 after a while I'd just shave my 59' neck, lol! I have to say since I own a killer 97 elegant quilt LP that the 90's era tops may never be seen again. I'd sure like to see your 97 R8 that you mentioned. I'd buy the Bloom and then decide who gets sold down the river.
