As Big Al stated in his thread, we guitar players love to chase our tone through cool vintage and boutique pieces. I've definitely fallen down that rabbit hole myself but I eventually learned that sometimes the simple little right off the rack budget amps have killer tone too. One of my favorite around the house jamming amps is the lowly Peavey Delta Blues. The Peavey classic series amps are such great players. I ignored them for years and when I finally gave one a try I was floored at how good it sounded. I stuck a nice '50s RCA black plate in V1 and a RCA gray plate in V2 of mine and man did that amp come to life. It LOVES pedals too. Here's a short little clip I made with mine this past Friday running a CV Tele and a EHX Soul Food into the dirty channel.
