• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Anyone own any Rock Star/Celebrity Owned and Played Instruments?

I don't have any, but a friend of mine owns "Rock Stars Guitars" and I've had a chance to play a couple of guitars they had come thru. Instruments from Pete Townsend, Jack Bruce, EVH, Tony Iommi and Noel Redding to name a few. Check out their website for current and past items.

Didn't realize there were that many folk who played backward guitars :)

Funny, I was listening to 'all mixed up' yesterday and thought how much better an Elliot outro would have worked...

It's my understanding that one of my guitars was under consideration for purchase by Max Headroom, back in 1983.

My PRS Singlecut was custom built for Keith Nelson of Buckcherry. The shop I bought it from told me that he was trading in a bunch of stuff so that he could buy a 1959 Les Paul. My cover band plays two Buckcherry songs, so this guitar has found a good home with me. I even bought the back issue of Vintage Guitar with Keith on the cover to keep in the case.

The pickups are really hot and sound amazing, and it has a piezo. It’s 8 pounds 14 oz. The skull and crossbones inlay is very detailed: the skull is missing a tooth. Keith’s initials as well as his name on the truss rod cover are written in a scary skeleton bones font. I’ve never seen a PRS with Grover tuners but this one-off definitely has a Les Paul vibe.

I assume he wears bracelets on his picking hand because of these dents:

That reflection at the bottom of the picture under the dents is a wall light switch before I put a cover on it. My music room is a work in progress. Everything is done now except the floors are still plywood.

I don't own any celebrity guitars, however the compensated tailpiece that I designed has ended up on quite a few celebrity guitars, including this guy's...

It still blows me away when I think about it. I wasn't even thinking about starting a business. Posts here on the LPF encouraged me to replace the Badass bridge that had been on my 1957 Junior since I acquired the guitar back in high school with a real 1950's lightweight tailpiece. I got hold of a vintage tailpiece and installed it and I was surprised at how the guitar opened up, but of course the intonation was off. I just thought it would be nice to have a lightweight wraparound that played in tune so I designed one and made one for my Junior. It worked so well that I decided to try selling it and it all just took off from there. :)

No guitar or other stuff, however BB King gave me a red Dunlop pick that he'd used at a '73 Brisbane show that I was at.
He was outside the theatre afterwards and I went up and spoke with him, he was such a gracious gentleman, God bless him.

No instruments, but various other pieces of kit.

Drumstick from the late Doobie Brothers drummer Keith Knudsen. Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen's guitar picks.

An amp owned by Southern Rocker Charlie Hargrett of Blackfoot (and other bands). It's stenciled with his name and "GAINESVILLE FL."

And a bass case from the bassist for Gainesville punk band "Against Me!," lead singer Laura Jane Grace has confirmed its authenticity and that the stencils on it were painted by her.

I traded in my '64RI SG at my local Sam Ash and Allen Hinds ended up buying it - then a couple years later he sold it and I was able to buy it back from his friend.
