• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

anyone realize?

That the most valued les paul (Jimmy Pages no.1) and most likely the most valued guitar has every major issue that devalues the guitar

it has:

grovers
possible refinish
shaved neck
only one PAF (the other pup is only assumed to be the orginal)
changed jack plate
bridge change
re fret
push pulls
headstock repair

i know that if it was ever sold whomever bought it would be buying it "for the name" and all the history, but i just thought that it was kind of funny

Hey you forgot 'No serial number' and the whole 58? 59? thing! :rofl

I think the celebrity aspect is where the extra value always comes from with these things. Any old vintage guitar has a limited market: Guitar players and guitar collectors.

Add the celebrity factor in and all sorts of people come out of the woodwork who would love a piece of rock history even if they can't play. Look at the BURNT hendrix strat that is going (or went, I don't know...) up for auction for £500,000!

All of the above may be true but that particular burst has one thing that few other bursts have: Jimmy Page.

Of course, many of us have realized this for 30 years or more.

Just shows how value is far more than a simple equation, like so many try to make it. :ganz

And then, again......

How different would the "value" of that Burst be if it was 100% and a flame monster? :hmm

Goes to show that you don't need ALL the original parts, plastic, and dimensions for the instrument to sound and feel great. For many of us, restoration to all original specs is more of a hobby and challenge than a means to tonal perfection. We all want to sound unique and have a guitar with exceptional performance yet the thought of a mod is sacrilege.

Well I would neva buy it..
Because it should stay with Jimmy!!!!

But that guitar I wouldnt consider a Burst in the convetional sence...

Because of its history out ways its Value as a Burst...

Same as the Beno Burst or the P.Green Burst or the Kith Burst
