Anyone used a narrow spaced PAF on a Les Paul?

Hello all,
I'm looking for a nice PAF for the neck position of my 1956 Les Paul Custom. (She was routed for humbuckers long before I got her.) I know the "jazz" PAFs have a narrower string spacing, and I've read they'll still sound awesome in a Lester. I was just wondering if they'd look funny. Do any of you have one of these in the neck position?

Also, I read in a thread somewhere that the narrow versions generally sell for quite a bit less than the normally spaced version. Any idea for a current price for one of these?

Thanks,
Brad

I'd say yes, in the neck position only. Had a Custom once that had one in the middle position , because the scum bag I bought it from misrepresented it , probably robbed it for himself.

Yeah , ur right they're a great deal , the poles won't line up perfect , but close enough for the neck pup. They totally won't work in the bridge , been there done that. Just will never be worth that much and r tough to sell if u ever have to. Some folks try and pass them off as normal spaced , but they have gold plating which is almost impossible to totally remove from the sides of the cover. :pwink

Gibson only used them on a few models. Thinking the Byrdland , ES 350 maybe one or two others . :salude

Thanks. I found one with a very aged cover, but the guy wants $2000 for it. Seems pretty high to me.

I used one, looked fine and sounded great in the neck position. $2000 seems way too much. Probably oughta be about half of that. Of course, anything is worth what you're willing to pay.

That's a '55 converted to '59- super lightweight, lovely soft V to kinda '59 beyond the 5th fret and rings out like a Jnr- such killer guitars!

I would like to see a photo example of an original [arched top] Les Paul with one of these. :hmm

Yuki,
That is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for posting. And that narrow PAF looks like it matches up just fine. I'm going to pass on the one I found on ebay though. I think they're just asking far too much.
Thanks,
Brad
