• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Anywhere between 8 & 1/2 lbs - 9 & 1/2 lbs very crude estimate.

I just looked at that spec in the Beauty of the Burst today and I believe the average weight of the guitars in that book was just under 9 pounds. The heaviest in the book was 9 pounds 12 ounces, if I recall.

There are at least a few that are 8.0 even or slightly less.
I thought I saw reference to one that was over 10. But my memory could be off.

Here are the numbers from BOTB plugged into an Excel spreadsheet with formulas to show averages.

28 of the 'bursts in the chart have the weight documented, which represents a little less than 2% of all that were made.

Based on these 28 guitars, the average weight is 8.86 lbs, the lightest of these being 8.10 lbs and the heaviest is 9.72 lbs.

The high outlier from 1959, 9 1927, gives me great comfort in that my Kalamazoo '74 standard is about that same weight. Of course, there are those who will say that my '74 will never be anything other than an "old guitar." Still and all... :)
