He certainly is...
find me a vid of wes rawking a burst. that was my supposition. No doubt a great guitarist, but I'd rather have gone next door to listen to Wes play any guitar, any day.

as far as wes>george? george would be the first to agree. his love of wes is well documented. pretty sure he still owns wes's main l5.
no need for an apology! i was happy to see you post on the thread.Yeah Matte, I understand the supposition, as far as the baddest on a 'Burst is concerned it holds. My pedantry was in a wider sense, and somewhat irrelevant to your post. My apologies.
That is the earliest lineup for RTF. Long before Al Dimeola (another badass Burst player) joined! la

Don't care who did what where or when, my flipin' face melted. Thank you Brother Matte for turning me on to some great ear candy.:dude:
Ha! I didn't see that the first look.

Yep, at that time Wes would have been king for me, too. George was 100% from the school of Wes ...well maybe some CC. But within 20-25 years of this video George had taken the bebop/melodic jazz guitar genre as far as Martino had taken the bebop/modal side of it. Guys like Mark Whitfield may have taken the chops to even greater perfection but IMO, George is the only player from that school to ever approach the type of prolific command of melody and harmony as someone like Charlie Parker. Bereli comes from a slightly different school of jazz but he is also close to having a "Bird" on guitar. Man I love these guys...
