• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Thanks a lot! Now I wont sleep lusting after this! :salude
Oh well if I can't have the guitar I can always make it my new pinup on my Laptop's desktop.
Is that price what something like this goes for these days?

Welcome!! Seems like a fair asking price for such a nice guitar - double whites never hurt :dude:

A question for Mr Wittrock: What would be the ramifications for a new owner valuewise if they thought about removing the neck pickup cover to reveal the coils ?:hmm

Before the days of the interweb, Ralphie was one of the first close-up 'Burst photos I'd seen, and I was completely captivated by it. Still am. For some time, there were folks who (mistakenly) thought it had a 1-piece top :jim

Value to the new owner is probably whatever he likes best. Value to the next owner is hard to say.
I doubt it would make much difference.

Personally, I prefer both pickups to look the same, meaning ... either both on, or both off.

This guitar came out of Oregon in the late 60's, it was brought into Dennys Music by the original owner, and was purchased by one of Dennys employees (Rick Ramirez) around 1969. Rick had the guitar for about 6 years and used it extensively with his band Ramm in the Portland area, before selling it to a local Burst collector (Pat). Last time I saw Rick about 1980, he was living in the LA area. During this time in the early 70's, we were good friends and he used to let me borrow 9-1089 for months at a time for safekeeping, as he lived in an apartment. When Rick had the guitar he changed out the original Kluson tuners to Schallers, put on early 50's barrel knobs, and I'm 99% sure (don't shoot me for this) that he put in the double-whites also. The guitar was an exceptional playing and sounding instrument. After Rick, Pat had the guitar for years and I'm not sure when he sold it.
