• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Time certainly flies and not that I wouldn't want one, but you can have your Bursts/Flametops, give me a Black Beauty over those any day!

I can see why you would! I have all four of my Les Pauls upstairs with me, but in actuality, I just changed strings on my Martin D-35 and I've been playing that at the moment. It is about time to move my '72/'54 and Frampton into the rotation though. :laugh2:

I'm not sure how I got to this one and I'm sure I couldn't find it again even if I had to, but here's a '56 to add to your/the collection from ATB Guitars (no affiliation):

Just got this baby from ATB guitars.
All original, weight 8.86 lbs, tone monster, and a neck almost like a '59 :)

When I buy overseas with only pics & description to judge from, I prefer a dealer that is a player himself (apart from having good reputation oc.). So when I specify my needs / ask questions about minute details and get honest answers, I'm pretty confident that I recieve what I'm hoping for.

Thanks :)
I'll have to get it refretted though. The original frets are so low, I can't fret an F, F# or G chord properly.

Contemplating medium-jumbo frets as on the '59 standard.

Can't go wrong with those.

Reluctantly, I had my '72/'54 Limited Edition refretted last year. I really wanted "Fretless Wonder" frets, but I couldn't find them anywhere, not even from Gibson, who informed me that they don't use that wire anymore. I end-up with medium.

It really does...it's a bit of a bummer that the particular seller doesn't show serial numbers, so it's hard for me to file this one correctly in my archives.

At least the pictures are really nice. :salude

Hi all,
in a few days I’ll be getting my hands finally on my 55 Custom. It’s got Sperzels on it so I’ll need something that looks right. No point in paying for originals. It’s a neck repair and neck refinish so would be no point.
Anyone recommend a good set? Are there aged versions out there?

RS guitar works used to do a Wafflebacks set...I just had a look on their site and it seems that lots of stuff is currently sold out. :dang

I used to have the Wafflebacks from RS on my old R4BB Historic and they looked great. I don't remember them doing aged versions then, but that was at least 8 years ago...maybe they offer them now. :hmm

Looks like you could get them direct from Kluson, but do the ageing afterwards elsewhere (or by yourself)...
