• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Due to my dissatisfaction with the Seymour Duncan wiring scheme I had in my humbucker strat (5-way with coil splitting), I decided to give the Bill Lawrence wiring a try:

I had to modify the circuit to accommodate the 2 volume/1 tone setup of my guitar but otherwise it went well.

I removed the reverse phase mini switch as the 1/2 OOP position seemed promising.

Welp, it was a success!

Positions and comments are as follows:

Position 1 = Neck Humbucker with Bass Cut
Position 2 = Neck and Bridge Humbuckers 1/2 Out of Phase
Position 3 = Bridge Humbucker
Position 4 = Neck and Bridge Humbuckers
Position 5 = Neck Humbucker

Obviously Postions 3-5 are standard 2 humbucker switch positions. Position 1 is subtle at low volume and more pronounced and useful as the volume is increased. Position 2 is the most surprising. It really nails the best aspects of the Out of Phase tone that I love so much. I didn't get to play with how the volumes interact but the function is as I have experienced in the past. No need for a mini-switch anymore.
