• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Thanks for all the kudos everyone. I have to say that in this case - photos don't do Dave's work justice. I've owned 2 Murphys and been up close and personal with a dozen others. They're good - don't get me wrong.

But Dave is better, IMO. In many ways.

1. You can actually have him work on your guitar.
2. Real weather checking, not cut lines (don't get me wrong - I think the Murphy checking looks great too. But some guys were aghast when they found out he was doing it with razors)
3. It looks and feels like it was actually PLAYED not just aged.
4. Affordability - those guys shaking their heads about the price - If you could all of a sudden easily get Tom Murphy to completely refin. your guitar, put a braz. board on it, reshape it to YOUR specs and then relic it - how much do you think they would charge? Coming from Gibson? Seriously. It's a bargain. Anyone seeing these guitars in person will tell you it's worth it.

I'm ready to send them my lemonburst next.

Its a great project! I am interested in a similar one. Does anybody have some photos of Blacktop Les Paul with a (dark) cherry back? Since this thread is old the pictures are not showing anymore.

Not a cherry back, but here's my 2006 Chambered R7 Goldtop to which I refinished the top in black:

Mr. Ren , you sir have quite the eclectic taste in sound/tone amplification . I love the Matchless amps from way back . Is this the Lightning 15 Combo ? I always wanted the DC-30 model from the 90's as to me it was a souped up Vox AC-30 . I would love to know your thoughts on your combo please ?

I like Matchless amps and insist they ain't any worse than the 90's now.

Vox on steriods is the best way to describe them.
