'Blank' repro scratchplate?

My '98 '58 never did have the pickups in the correct position, it's a know fault for that year on quite a few of the guitars produced. Anyway, that's the reason I want to buy a nice, 'accurate' repro plate but manufactured 'to order' so that I send them a template and they make the pup cutouts to that.

Is there any manufacturer who does this? But remember I'm talking about a 'proper' vintage style reproduction unit, not any old scratchplate manufacturer. I'm looking for the correct colour etc etc. You guys know what I mean..

Many thanks guys, I'm in conversation with Dan. He's being really helpful and he knows his stuff for sure. Thanks again.

Can't recommend Dan highly enough. He set me up with the perfect SG guard.

I traced my cream p-90 pickguard on a piece of paper and Pickguardian (.com) made a black layered beauty for me.

I've ordered one off Dan.

Just out of interest, I haven't taken the time to study a new Historic lately, have Gibson improved upon that lovely shade of Palitoy pink that they so liberally used on plates and pup covers in the past? What's the general thinking? Have they got it right yet? or is it just merely 'better', but still a long way to go? What's the latest?

I don't think the color has changed all that much. Then again maybe my eyes don't see it being as pink as some others seem to see it. Maybe if I had an original burst here to compare the plastic too, I'd notice the difference. Otherwise I can't speak to the accuracy of the plastic color. Photos are a poor source of accurate info on color, especially off-white shades.

Anyone want to loan me an original burst for a while so I can see the difference for myself?:rofl

Dan all the way. He did my 98 and even had to customize it a bit because mine was even a tad more off spec

I reckon that the jig (or whatever tool/procedure) used to place the bridge pup and the bridge was 'off' on a lot of those 98s. My bridge pup was 'south' as was my bridge. The latter so much so that intonation is barely attainable with the saddles all the way forwards. Though soon to be corrected as I am in the process of relocating the mounting studs 3mm 'north'. Out of interest is your (59Vampire) bridge misplaced too? ie is intonation achieved with the saddles approx halfway along their channels or like mine fully forwards?

great that everything worked out fine for you. PG color matches the PUP rings nearly perfect
