Blues Junior speaker question

Can anyone clear up question I have about the stock speaker? On the Fender web site they list a Eminence lightning bolt speaker. But a flyer from my local music shop advertises an Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker. Is this a limited run model? I see the review on BillM site for this speaker mod is pretty good. Any thoughts from people who have experience with these?

Thanks

The Cannabis Rex & the Celestion Vintage 30 , depending on your taste. Some say the + for the C Rex, is you can smoke it if you blow your speaker : I don't think so, That cone is not made from the flowers! Wanna bet?:hee:hee:hee

There are quite a few different models and limited runs... my first one had a Fender Lightning Bolt, the second had an AlNiCo Jensen P12R speaker. I got rid of the first one and kept the second, but replaced the Jensen with a Cannabis Rex... which is smokin'... :hee

There is a good summary of some of the different speakers here. :salude

Mine is the tweed one and it came with a Jensen. I replaced it at BillM's suggestion with an English made Celestion G12H. I think this amp can use just about anything and make it sound great.

Did you get the G12H Heritage? I've heard good things about those...

I usually prefer AlNiCo Speakers over Ceramics... but the Jensens that came stock were just way too harsh. The Cannabisses (Cannabi ?) really do it justice. I did a bunch of other mods as well, so its really hard to tell exactly what is responsible for what... but they sound awesome. I hear Scumback M75s are equally awesome... if I ever get another I may have to give one of them a try... :hmm

Yes, the English made one, not the other. Actually, the Jensen that came with the NOS Tweed sounds good after you put some miles on it. But it like took FOREVER to knock the harshness off. I think the dopers should have used half.
