• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Just got a latest model, a 1x12 EL34 combo with separate reverb and bright switches for both channels and adjustable boost knob on the OD channel. The clean channel sounds beautiful, better than many Fenders I've owned and tried. The OD channel sounds just gorgeous. Very easy to dial in the classic rock to hard rock tones. Ripping through "Just God Paid" was a lot of fun with the Shiva! :dude:
Definitely the best channel switcher I've ever bought and heard. Anybody else have love for the Shivas??

I don't have a pic of it right now, but it looks just like this one:

Cool amp! I had an EL34 combo, but sold mine and replaced it with a Splawn Quickrod. The Shiva's OD channel was just a bit too refined for me. I wanted something more in your face like a real Marshall but with a decent clean channel.

I loved the shiva. Would have never sold it ifnot for a killer offer I received so out it went. After that, i got an xtc which i love just as much. Fantastic amp as well. I prefer the shiva cleans .. but love the xtc blue. :D

I had an older 6L6 1x12 combo. Man those things aren't light, one of the reasons I sold it. I also played both the 6L6 and EL34 versions and like the 6L6 much better. The EL34 versions has been the most popular, but now that guys have have the chance top play the 6L6, it is catching up. A lot of foks on TGP rave about the 6L6 also. It is thicker, smoother, not as comprssed and dark sounding and way less fizzy than the EL34's. The cleans are also better IMO. So yeah, great, great amps. But I still like my Rockerverb 50 better.

I've had the 6L6, 2-12 Shiva since 2000. I gig a LOT, and it's super reliable. I've replaced a couple of output tubes, and that's all. Every time I plug it in I know exactly what's going to come out of it, and I can't say that for all my amps. I'm not really a fan of the reverb, too "soft" sounding for my taste, but lots of people love it.
The distortion is rich and complex but not super heavy. It seems to bring out the best in the guitar and your technique rather than mask it with a wall of fuzz. And remember, an extremely distorted tone may transport you to guitar hero heaven, but out in audience-land, you're not cutting through and you've lost your impact and dynamics. The Shiva gives me all the sustain and fatness I want without crushing my tone. Really the best amp I've had....

I had the EL34 2x12, and sold it...and have regretted it ever since. I'm getting another after the holidays, I'm gonna go head, and cabs this time.

For me, it's the perfect amp.

Congrats on the score...you're gonna love it.

I love my '60 Tweed Deluxe, but if I ever had to own just ONE amp to do everything, it would be the 1x12 EL34 Shiva....I'll grab one real soon.

Don, e-mail me....LONG time no talk. What? 2003?
